Kid Cudi – Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’

Always a special day when Kid Cudi releases an album. Loved all the music he dropped in anticipation of this project, hype levels were through the roof before listening. After a run through it the verdict is already in for me: this is actually damn good. Yeah it could be shorter. But, seeing it structured in separate segments made me nostalgic for the Man on the Moon days. And the beauty is you don’t have to listen to it through every time. There’s at least a dozen tracks on here I know I’ll go back to and enjoy at a high frequency (haha pun) which is good enough for me.

I don’t really know what it is about this thing. I think just seeing Cudi being more upbeat than usual, on top of some stellar features and production, made for a strong release. Mad props to the dude too for being true to his word and actually dropping this despite setbacks. That deserves respect. F*ck anyone who hates on Cudi at this point. Straight up. He’s shown on here that he can still stay true to his more original style, even after periods of exploration. Very happy with this album as a whole. Well done.
